I think I'm just a tad bit too excited about decorating our first home for the holidays.

Since I slacked off and waited to the last minute for Halloween/Autumn, I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. This time I'm getting a head start and making sure that we get to squeeze out every ounce of this Christmastime deliciousness.

can you tell I like white? ; )
for this holiday season I'm thinking lots of lights and candles (to make up for our lack of fireplace), lots of white, and focusing on the perfect combination of metallics and natural materials... burlap, pine cones, and cinnamon sticks juxtaposed against mirrored glass, silver, and sparkles...

is it too much if we get our tree this weekend?  don't be afraid to say yes.

what decor is your favorite for christmas?
traditional green & red, glitter, funky, neutrals...

eager to continue to be inspired by such a beautiful season

today i'm linking up with Gussy Sews {Inspiration Workshop}

maybe its because i'm currently living in a barn... but one trend that i've absolutely fallen in love with is sliding barn doors.  they are the perfect combination of rustic and clean... and not to mention space efficient.

oh, how i dream of the day i will restore my own farm house, and create the ideal mix of the rustic and modern.

sliding barn doors... leading to a crisp white bathroom... swoon ...

[ Home Sweet Home ] Meet Mr. Thomas

Thursday, May 12, 2011

On Monday I went home for the night to attend my friend's mom's viewing and funeral...

When I got to my house I was greeted by this guy....

Meet Thomas...
He's a 2 week old baby goat, that my family has adopted because his mom abandoned him.

Our home is always a bit of a zoo farm,
my step-mom is a veterinarian...
Last trip home, I met our new dog (our 4th dog).
So this little guy wasn't a total shock...
just another day at Stone Marsh Farm.

But seriously, how cute is that face!

Welcome to my home!  I live off-campus down at school, in a tiny little house with two friends.  It's definitely a fixer upper, but my bedroom is my little haven.
My room is super tiny, so I've tried to keep it very simple and uncluttered.

My favorite pieces are an antique iron bed that I've had since I was a little girl,
a hand-carved frame that I made into a mirror,
and a quirky mid-century teal tweed and chrome chair I got for $2 at Salvation Army.

Fresh, simple, bright, white.

I'm going to have to keep doing these types of post because it's good motivation to clean!
Have a wonderful Monday!
