[ Inspiration ] White, Gray & Everything in Between

Friday, August 26, 2011

white. gray. and everything in between.
the in between part is what makes my heart pitter-patter.  it seems so simple, yet within every highlight and shadow is a hidden glimmer of color. blues, purples, pinks, greens... they are there, just muted beneath a veil of pure loveliness :)

so dreamy.

[ Color Crush ] For Japan, with Love [ Red ]

Saturday, March 19, 2011

In lieu of the devastation in Japan, I was moved to support For Japan with Love.  Please check out their website, and contribute what you can.  My prayers continue to go out to those lost, their families, and the struggle for those left to pick up the pieces and their attempt to regain a sense of normalcy.

I was inspired by this cause to continue my Color Crush series with Red.  In the Japanese culture it serves many purposes, including repelling evil spirits, and the deities of healing, fertility, and childbirth.  I'm spreading the blogger love by choosing items from my favorite bloggers and artists.  There are some really talented people out there, and we can never underestimate the power we have.  For Japan with Love, with support of bloggers across the world, has so far raised over $46,000.

[ Color Crush ] Turquoise

Saturday, February 26, 2011

This week's color crush is my infatuation with turquoise.  Other than white, it's the only pop of color in my room (mason jars, and my quirky thrift store chair. )

I love the way it can function both as a cool winter hue and a fresh summer blue, which seems perfectly appropriate today as the weather can't decide which one it wants to be.  I tried finding examples of especially unexpected pops of color, an alternative to just turquoise walls.  See what you think...

I fell in love with this image.  Very Darryl Carter (my Mom's favorite interior designer).  There's just something so complex about the subtlety of colors and texture in such a seemingly simple monotone palette.
Blues, Greens, Blush...

I also love the eclectic-ness of the image; vintage, modern, rustic.  I want this room!
